Fan Fiction!

I have been toying with the possibility of writing some fan fiction. If anything, it might help get my name out there, however, I'm struggling with WHAT to write.  The obvious choice, being me, would be something Batman related, but it seems like it has all been done before. I know almost the complete history of Joker and Harley Quinn, but I've seen a lot of fan fiction featuring them as well. It's kind of disappointing. When I dressed up as Harley Quinn for a Halloween party three years ago, no one knew who she was. Obviously, thanks to Heath Ledger, everyone knew who Joker was, but it was impossible to find ANYTHING with Harley on it. That's not the case any more. Since the Arkham video games featured Harley, it seems like she is everywhere! Now while I am pleased that she is finally getting the recognition she deserves, it seems like EVERYONE is trying to be Harley Quinn!  Also, stop making her out to be an idiot! Yes, she makes some rather stupid relations
With the children being home from school for the summer, I find myself struggling to find time to get things done. I just don't have the time to write any more. Monday's used to be my favorite day of the week, because there was absolutely no one home during the day, and I was able to get a lot done. Not the case today. There are four of the five children at home and storms in the area are keeping them in the house (glad I didn't set up the pool like I was going to yesterday). Even writing this blog, I can't seem to get two sentences done without having to get up for some reason. Tomorrow morning will be even more eventful. It is one of the two days a week that I get to drag all five kids out at 7 am to spend 2 1/2 hours in a hockey arena. Have you ever attempted to keep a 2 year old from getting in to things at an ice arena? Not fun, but Hayleigh loves her sport, so we will deal with it.  I finally found my calendar that has been missing since our camping trip.

Rant Time!

Okay, I don't really want very often, but this time it's necessary. First of all, I'm not close to my dad. He and my mom split up when I was just a baby, and I would generally only see him for Christmas while I was growing up. I'm not close to much of his side of the family, especially since his mom died a few years ago. Many of the aunts, uncles, and cousins, I haven't seen in 10 years.  However, I read on facebook yesterday, that one of these uncles died on Monday, after a long battle with cancer. I never knew he had cancer.  Maybe I am overreacting, but I don't think I should have found out about this death on facebook. Would it have been too much to ask for my father to pick up a phone and call me? Or even before a simple, "hey your uncle has cancer" would have been nice. Nope. Nothing.  I guess it shouldn't surprise me. My dad never seemed to want to be a part of my life until I had children of my own. Once I turned 21 and could start seei

It's Crunch Time

As the school year comes to an end, the kids are busy with afterschool activities. At awards night last week, Jayson walked away with Honor Roll and Hayleigh received the 4th grade Optimist Award. Kimmy graduated from 4K and went on a field trip to the zoo that completely wore me out! This weekend we are going camping (actually we will be gone Friday until Wednesday), so I HAVE to finish editing Self Inflicted before I leave! The finished book has to be uploaded by June16 in order to be released on June 26 like I had planned. I have 5 chapters done. There are only twenty to go.  The problem is, I hate editing. I can write all day, just don't make me edit. I think it's partially because it's my own work. I can stop mistakes in other people's writing, I just don't seem to notice them in my own.  I think it's because I know how the book is supposed to read, so that's how it looks to me.  I'm still finding mistakes in my first three books.  There is a l

Go Hawks!

The week is halfway over. My daughter's musical is over. The performance last night was definitely cute, but she was upset that the girl cast as the lead messed up her lines (of course that was the part that my Hayleigh wanted). Tonight, I have awards night for my older two children. I am excited to see what they will walk away with, but I regret to say that I will be glued to my cell phone during the ceremony. Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Play-offs is tonight.  As a hockey family, we take the sport very seriously. My children know that I will be preoccupied with the game, but I will put my phone down to take pictures of their awards. Speaking of hockey, we have less than two weeks before my daughter's summer hockey league starts up. As much as I'm not looking forward to waking up at 6 am two days a week and dragging out five children for a 30 minute car ride to spend an hour in a hockey arena when the little children will be monsters, it's important to Hayleigh, and I

Summer

As the school year comes to an end, my days grow busier. With only a week and a half left of school, my evenings are filled with activities. Tonight, my 10 year old daughter has her weekly drill for the Young Marines. If you have never heard of this organization, I encourage you to check them out. My oldest son took a year off this past year because his classes were so advanced, he didn't have the time, but he is looking forward to re-joining this summer. There are numerous chapters scattered across the country, so there should definitely have one near you. Tell them you heard about them from the First Wisconsin Young Marines! Tuesday, that same daughter is staring in her first musical. My 12 year old son did his first musical earlier this year, and he loves it so much, he managed to become stage manager in my daughter's! I am so grateful that my love of music has passed on to these children. My son plays clarinet (just like his mama did) in his school band and recently mar
